FROST is a series of curated music events established in 2011, taking place in and around Copenhagen throughout the month of February. Taking over both alternative and established venues across the city, FROST presents a wide range of high quality acts – both Danish and international, playing everything from pop, rock and folk to avant-garde, electronica and jazz.
The main agenda of FROST is to create new and original concert experiences in alternative locations. We use the city, its buildings and urban spaces as a playground and laboratory from where the audience experience music in new and surprising contexts.
In 2011, 2012 and 2013 we have produced highly acclaimed events in churches, Copenhagen Zoological Museum, old warehouses, a strip club, theatres and botanical gardens with acts such as Wilco, Efterklang, Nils Frahm, Modeselektor, Colin Stetson, WhoMadeWho and Foxygen.
Since the greater part of the line-up are Danish acts, both established and upcoming, FROST is a great possibility for visitors from all over the world to experience the vibrant contemporary Danish music scene that has gained much international attention within the last few years.
FROST 2014 takes place from the 1st of February-2nd of March. This year we will focus thematically on closed down buildings as well as water and cultural history. So far we have announced of Montreal (US) at Bremen Teater, Erlend Øye (N) in an empty public swimming pool and Indians (DK) in concert collaboration with the symphonic orchestra Copenhagen Phil. More bands will be announced soon!
