Today we have the pleasure of announcing three new events for this year’s festival programme. Frost Festival is forging new bonds between genres and geographies, presenting novel collaborations in unique settings.
Danish punk-turned-rock band Iceage are joined by nine members of the German ensemble Stargaze to perform a one-off live orchestral version of their latest release “Plowing into the Field of Love”. Experience Iceage with Stargaze in the velvet interior of Bremen Theatre on Tuesday, February 9th.
Furthermore, world music meets the electronic club scene on February 12th, when Frost Festival presents ‘Ritual‘. Moroccan Maalem Omar Hayat with band serve up a modern version of a traditional trance ritual meant to align body and mind. Later that night, they are joined by American DJ Rupture, who samples beats and chants from world music and combines these with modern trance. The whole evening is hosted by Nikolaj Kunsthal, and presented in collaboration with Fokus Festival, Fonden Roskilde Festival, and Global.
The next day, Maalem Omar Hayat and his band serve up a four hour rendition of the traditional ritual at Global, under the title ‘Elements of Lila‘.
