Experience one of the most promising bands to emerge from the Danish music scene in later years, as they play the Tycho Brahe Planetarium, Copenhagen’s iconic centre for astronomy. Playful in their orchestral line-up, Kentaur creates complex soundscapes that resonate with emotion and transport audiences. On February 5th, the band will take stage at the Planetarium – bringing their music to life through the Space Theatre’s unique surround sound, and accompanied by spectacular lighting.
The immense energy Kentaur brings to their performance makes them the ideal fit for a room so demanding as the Planetarium’s Space Theatre.
Kentaur swiftly won over audiences and critics alike with the release of their debut EP Verterbra by Verterbra. During the last year, the Danish trio have introduced their audiences to a unique blend of neo-soul and orchestral ballads, mixed in with references to their love of early 70s and 80s R’n’B.
The band has also shown itself to be a formidable live act, with a reviewer from GAFFA stating: “Kentaur is ambitious, without being pretentious. At no point do they give the impression of trying to over-perform, instead each guitar riff and drum beat is given space to unfold and breathe, carried by an impressive vocal and many-facetted atmospheric expression.” – GAFFA, May 2nd 2015
Award-winning young Danish light artist Jakob Kvist will light up the facade, making the Planetarium a beacon in the winter darkness. Kvist has previously collaborated with Frost Festival, for instance at the abandoned National Aquarium in 2014 and for ‘Light at the Museum’ in 2015. Kvist will also create the light design in the Space Theatre, for Kentaur and Choir of Young Believers’ concerts.
In the Planetarium’s Tycho Hall, which houses the permanent exhibition, Tobias Ebsen & Yoke will create an interactive lighting experience. Featured at the Denmark Pavilion for the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, Tobias Ebsen combines design and research, focusing on the interplay between technology and aesthetics. YOKE is a design agency that similarly works within interaction design, famed for state of the art experience-driven solutions.
